Wizard of Oz
The Wizard of Oz was a subject I was quite happy to paint. When I began glass painting reverse, I looked for and found a subject that not only was I quite familiar with, but so were a lot of other people. I spent much too much time in Oz, glass painting reverse.

After viewing many of photographs of the seperate frames from the movie, I found dozens that were suitable for reverse glass painting. There were almost too many to choose from. There are eight glass paintings reverse so far in the series. There won't be any more in this series, as I've spent enough time in oz, and am ready to go further with the reverse glass paintings in other areas. It was truly a wonderful place to begin. As I already indicated, I worked hard on a few of the scenes that were pivotal in the story, at least for me.

... and then, on the other hand, some of them were just plain fun to do. When I watched the movie as a child, the scariest parts for me were the attacks of the flying monkeys. If you tell that to children now, though, they laugh about it! Did everyone in the world except me know that the monkeys were actually only plastic toys that were only an inch or two tall? Even though it haunted my dreams, I still think it was a great movie.
Please keep in mind that it is difficult to photograph a glass object, eapecially when it's flat, like a reverse painting on glass, without getting glare or reflections. Unfortunatly, photography is not my forte.
This page was posted some time ago, and when I began to put google ads on it, I had typed in that I wanted ads pertaining to Oz memorabelia. When I found the hurricane relief ads though, it was hitting a little close to home. Call it a sickness, but I left it on there!
