Stained Glass Painting

Stained glass painting is different from reverse painting on glass only in that a thinner, transparent paint is used. Usually the glass painting designs are more simple, and there is glass paint readily available in the art supply stores specially suited for painting stained glass. There is even a paint for the outlining that is found in stained glass, called 'liquid lead'. It' a lot of fun to work with! The effect it provides is very much the same as the stained paintings, and quite pretty when day light shines through it. The nice part is that staining the glass can easily be incorporated into the home decor, and is extremely affordable!

The house I have lived in for many years is vintage 1860's. The floors are pine plank. The plaster and lathe has been replaced by Sheetrock. But if you really look, you can tell that it was once two separate, and very small buildings butted up to each other to make a house. One was a farm house, the other a church. Nothing that anyone could ever call fancy. So, this type of art is not just for beautiful homes that are very expensive. I have even thought of ways to do the replaced windows here and there into paintings with stained glass! In any event, what I'm trying to tell you is that it can be done, and is not difficult. It just takes a little time. If it does't come out just right, I can take it off with a razor blade and start over.
