Glass Painting Designs

Glass painting designs is not a difficult subject to approach. Design is the key word, and the only trick is to keep it as simple as possible, while at the same time, making the statement that you intend to with the painting. The theory that seems to work best in any painting is that the main subject should occupy approximately one third of the area of the painting. This holds true for glass painting too.

Any one who decides that they want to paint on glass, probably already knows what they want to paint. Let's work with that idea! So you know what you want, and you would like me to tell you how to get it. I've got it.
If the glass pane you have to paint on is 16" x 20", You would want the cat in the painting to be just about 5" to 6" x 6" to 7". Bear in mind that this is only an estimate. Depending on the cat, and what he or she might be doing, the dimension will change. The cat may in reality end up 4" tall and 14" long. As long as he does not take up one half or more of the painting, he is good to go. There may be a vase of flowers or a lamp in the painting too. Just worry about the main subject. You will need to resize the photo accordingly.
The next job in your glass painting designs is the placement of your main subject. The center of the painting is very seldom where it needs to be. How boring. Right dead center. Ho hum, it does not happen. It will be much more interesting if the main theme is closer to one side than the other; closer to the bottom than the top. Some times, closer to the top than the bottom. It all depends on What you are trying to tell the viewer. This is your idea, and you are the one who is creating the final result of your painting design.
The background is just that. The background. Lets not complicate it more than need be. You have the basis to work with, so it’s time to continue with the work. Get painting!
